I was born in Bielsko-Biala, the city situated in the middle of mountainous area Beskidy in Poland. Ever since I remember I was always fascinated in animals. Perhaps it was natural consequence of the fact that my grandfather, who lived with us at home, was also animal lover. He rescued and brought help to several stray cats and dogs. He was my hero. And I think that's how my love and fascination in animal world began.
When I was kid it was obvious that my favourite toys were animal figures, I played with them and collected them.
I was also interested in art, especially painting and sculpting. That's why I decided for education in Secondary Art School and later for the studies about art. I finished Art Education with specialisation Sculpture on the University of Silesia in Cieszyn.
As teenager I stopped with collecting for a few years but when I re discovered this hobby I knew I will continue it. I have found internet community of animal replica collectors where I could talk about this hobby and everything animal related. After some time I had quite a collection but some of my favourite, rare species were absent in toy form. One day I decided to try sculpting some of the missing ones. After a few trials and effects shown to other collectors I received my first commission. My friends, collectors encouraged me to continue creating figures and trying to make them as realistic as I could. After some time my husband learned how to make silicone moulds and resin copies of my works so I could send even more of them to collectors. And that's how my hobby has changed into a profession. I must say it's my dream job!
In 2012 I moved to Utrecht, the Netherlands with my husband and son. Soon after moving I opened my own company Horse and Bird, under this name I make limited edition animal figures for collectors and sculpt one of a kind figures and also design toys for the toy brand Mojo fun.
